AJA at the DC Final Cut Pro Users Group

I attended my first Final Cut Pro User Group, it was the District of Columbia chapter that was founded a few years back by Rodney Mitchell. This meeting featured AJA , they have been a leading manufacturer of high-quality and cost-effective digital video interface, conversion and desktop solutions supporting the professional broadcast and post-production markets.

Manny Rosado was the field service engineer who came out to tell us about their new products and offerings. The one that impressed me the most was Ki Pro . The information below is pulled from the AJA web site

Tascam DR-100 Portable Recorder

I, like many bloggers run test to see how different pieces of equipment works and test new workflows. There is an abundance of reviews online, so I just decided to add one more to the list.

I recently purchased a Tascam DR-100 Portable Digital Recorder for the purpose to get good audio from while using my Canon 7D. There are many people who are using the Sony Zoom H4n and the reviews have been very good.

Thanks to my friend Bryant Taylor who had the Tascam DR-100 and he highly recommended it. I trust his judgment, especially with audio devices so I made the plunge. It’s an old adage I use made famous by former President Regan, “trust, but verify.” So my verification was at my church, Miracle Temple sitting in the back of the sanctuary during our opening praise and worship service.

The file is about 20 minutes long, but if you listen the speech very clear and the music sounds good. I used the unidirectional mic held close to the speakers. Listen to the clip below. My opinion is that this recorder is solid and will drastically improve audio in my recordings.
